It is with great sadness today that we announce the passing of Silver Hill’s co-founder, Mrs Lyla Steele.
Mrs Steele and her husband Ronnie were pioneers in the poultry industry in Ireland, founding Silver Hill Duck in 1962. Thanks to their vision, we now have a world renowned company based in Emyvale that produces the “Best Duck in the World”.
Mrs Steele was a driving force behind the company’s growth and was instrumental in setting up the relationships with our wide range of customers that we still proudly trade with today.
Even though she had retired in recent years, our customers would always ask how she was keeping as she was held in very high regard by them all.
Lyla was an astute innovative business woman ahead of her time and will be sadly missed by all of those who knew her both at home and abroad. We offer our condolences to her son Stuart and the wider family.
