Reporting to: Chief Technical Manager

Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent

Location: Emyvale, Co. Monaghan

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Ensure the implementation and compliance to Silver Hill Code of practice, Bord bia and all EU regulations.
  • To support the Farm Liaison Manager in the effective and efficient management of the area.
  • To carry out pre placement inspections of sites and terminal hygiene programs, reporting issues and ensuring they are corrected prior to day olds being placed.
  • Liaise with the farm liaison manager on preparing and ensuring that all sites are Bord Bia approved.
  • Analysing feed intake, water consumption, overall bird performance and reporting to farm technical department and visiting sites where needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring biosecurity at all sites is at the highest standards and working and educating all stakeholders to maintain these standards
  • Ensuring optimal ventilation requirements are in place to ensure the growth and health performance of birds.
  • To manage and communicate with growers and their agreed site improvement plans and ensure completion to schedule.
  • Providing guidance on best practices standards in duck husbandry and animal welfare and ensuring Silver Hill codes of practices are reviewed, updated and communicated affectively.
  • Liaise where needed with the company Veterinary practitioner to support growers to ensure the optimal health status of the flock.
  • To provide Training & Development of Outside Growers for the area.

Criteria and Core skills

  • 3rd Level Education preferably in Agriculture or Food relating discipline
  • Knowledge of poultry production and bord bia standards would be advantageous
  • Good communication , organisation and planning skills
  • The candidate must have good work ethic, be able to work on their own initiative whilst also being able to integrate into a team.
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and managers
  • Proficient capability with MS Office and good IT skills.

    Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician                                                                  Reporting to: Quality & Technical Manager

    Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent                                                                    Location: Emyvale, Co. Monaghan

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Effective development, implementation, and monitoring of the Food Safety Management system, including the HACCP plan, pre-requisite programme and documented SOPs within the business.
    • Reporting to the Technical Manager on the performance against standards of the site. Ensuring compliance with Legislation, BRC, and retailer/ customer standards.
    • To conduct Internal audits across the site and communicate the results of internal audits and work with Management and supervisors on effective close outs.
    • Own and manage projects, ensuring completion within agreed timeframes and involving key stakeholders.
    • Apply Lean manufacturing principles daily in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and change management.
    • Proactively identify and address hazards to prevent risks to product safety, initiate corrective and preventative actions, and oversee their effective implementation to address problems and drive continuous improvement.
    • To analysis Production Quality KPI’s and proactively report trends and liaise with production teams in problem solving.
    • Manage external non-conformance and complete complaint investigations, to ensure a rigorous approach to root cause analysis and that corrective and preventative actions are put in place in a timely manager.
    • Collaborate with Production and Maintenance Management to set standards, solve problems, and implement corrective actions.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum recognised 3rd level qualification in a Food Science related discipline.
    • Minimum 3 years+ QA/QC experience in Food Manufacturing environment & Quality systems.
    • Have a demonstratable comprehensive knowledge of auditing, quality standards and systems, quality management techniques such as HACCP, Process Control, knowledge of food legislation, GFSI standards including BRC.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, being able to execute plans efficiently.
    • Proven track record of delivering sustainable change initiatives and results.
    • Proven track record of achievement in continuous improvement.
    • Must be highly motivated, must be a Team Player, must have a ‘can do’ attitude.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient in Excel & IT systems.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
